Willia Kelly Obituary

“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice and no one will take away your joy.” – John 16:22

On January 14th, 2024 Willia Rosalinde Kelly left this world peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and found healing on the other side.

An amazing mother, an outstanding grandmother, and a loving sister, Willia Rosalinde Kelly, affectionately known by all as Lynn was born January 23rd, 1960 to both the late Maxine Turner-Kelly and Fred Swope in Benton Harbor, MI. Lynn was the 3rd born to the Kelly Clan.

She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, a proud Tiger in 1978, participating on the cheerleading team, track team, and band. She retired from Harbor Graphics in January 2011 after 28 years of service. She had a passion for bartending, serving as a mixologist at Le’Chic for many years. She equally had a passion for food and loved her snacks, door dash this and door dash that. When she wasn’t eating, she was cleaning. Whenever you heard “I will always love you” playing that meant it was time to get up and clean up. Lynn was the sweetest, most kind-hearted woman who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Those who knew Lynn will remember her as a fountain of love and compassion. Her generosity, her spirit and warm welcoming nature made her a friend to many, and an invaluable member of her community. She had a knack for making anyone in her presence feel valued and heard and her encouragement was often a catalyst for others to strive for their best. What everyone will definitely remember is Lynn couldn’t hold hot water. She loved you hard but couldn’t hold not a one secret. We will miss her witty remarks and sarcastic comebacks. One of them being her favorite saying to her daughter, “We got the same thang but mines been used more than yours”.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter Ashley (Ja’Wayne) Tomlin of Ellenwood, Georgia and her son Napoleon (Lauren) Lark IV of Montgomery, Alabama. Her precious grandchildren whom she adored and loved with her whole heart, Jaida Lynn Cornelious (her Jaida Boo) and Jayden Carter (her favorite grandbaby JC) of Ellenwood, Georgia, Kataleya Lark (her KJ) of Warren Roberts, Georgia, Jai’lynn Tomlin of Louisville, Kentucky, Jayda Swanson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kaylen of Montgomery, Alabama. Her bonus grandchildren Mason, Malik, Maiya, Malon, Malei, Ma’Kenz, Tonae, and Terrell. Her sisters Cassandra (Randy) Kelly-Jones, Roshanna (Pastor Bryan) Williams both of Benton Harbor MI, Kimberly Kelly, Regina Kelly and Darlene Anderson all of Grand Rapids MI. Stepbrother Daniel Johnson and stepsister Valerie Adams. And her uncle Willie B. Turner of Benton Harbor, MI and favorite uncle Clifton Turner of Flint, MI.  Her favorite cousin Renee Turner-Bailey. Her favorite nieces Junethea Williams, Takayenna Myers-McGee, and Ya’Nesha Smith, her favorite nephews Jordan and Justin Williams and a host of nieces and nephews. Her God-daughter Taja Mahone and two bonus daughters Jamie Frazier and Shameka Haley-Wright. Her best friends Samantha Webb, Debbie Heart, Ronea Rice, and the rest of the class of 1978 and her favorite barber "Roy".

She was preceded in death by her mother Maxine Turner-Kelly, her father Fred Swope, her step-father Willie “Pokey” Kelly, her oldest sister JoAntha Smith-Raines, only brother Gregory Kelly, and her baby sister Tabitha Kelly.
