Tressa Ann Lewis, 48, of Michigan City, Indiana departed this life on August 15, 2022, peacefully at home.
Tressa’s celebration of life will be noon, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at God’s Grace Church 301 Barker Avenue, Michigan City, Indiana. Viewing will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, August 26, 2022, at Emmanuel Funeral Home-(Trail Creek) 3025 East Michigan Blvd Trail Creek, Indiana. The repast will follow immediately after the Celebration of Life.
Tressa Ann Lewis was born on June 5, 1974, in Michigan City, Indiana to Wallace Lewis and Annie Lewis Benning.
She graduated from Elston High School, class of 1992, in Michigan City, Indiana. She continued her education at Grace College in Warsaw, Indiana where she received a bachelor’s degree in Communication in 1999.
Tressa confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a member of God’s Grace Deliverance Ministries under the leadership of her parents, Pastors Jack and Annie Benning. Tressa taught Sunday School to the youth at church. She had a passion for tutoring and working with children.
Tressa loved to read and watch musicals in her free time. Tressa moved to Texas in 2006 and returned to Indiana in 2013. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. Tressa fulfilled her lifelong dream of going to Disney World in September 2021 with her niece Hannah Sheehy.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother and step father, Pastor Annie and Pastor Jack Benning of Michigan City, Indiana; brothers, Rodney Lewis and Omar Lewis both of Michigan City, Indiana; sisters, Lisa (Stephen) Connally of Liberty Hills, Texas, Tomeko (Monty) Patrick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lolita Lewis of Belleview, Michigan, Chrystal Robinson of Killeen, Texas and Jacquette (Jason) Diggs of Grand Prairie, Texas and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Lewis; paternal grandparents Oscar Lewis and Altoria Gerron; maternal grandparents, Earl Blair and Mary Fuller; paternal aunt, Angel Deal-Torrance, and maternal aunt, Etta Corbitt.
