T J Lucas Jr. formerly of Gary, IN departed this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11am, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Emmanuel Funeral Home with Supt. Williams to give the eulogy.     Viewing will be 10am, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Emmanuel Funeral Home until the time of Service.

He was born in Gary, Indiana, on September 18, 1971, to T J Lucas Sr. and Carol Lucas, T J was a beacon of strength and generosity in his community.

T J was a proud alumnus of Horace Mann High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and established the foundation for his future endeavors. He carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life, which were evident in his career as a laborer. T J's work ethic and commitment to his craft were admired by all who knew him. In his personal life, T J was known for his love of fixing cars—a passion that he turned into a pastime, bringing life back to engines and joy to those he helped. His hands were rarely clean, but his heart was always full as he shared his skills with friends and family. T J's ability to repair what was broken extended beyond the garage; he was a pillar of support for those around him, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. He was described by those who loved him as handy and selfless.

T J was preceded in death by his father, T J Lucas Sr., his mother, Carol Lucas, his sister, Tequetla Lucas, and his uncle, Natheniel Lucas. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved son, Johntae Lucas, and his adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Crystal Hunt, Patricia Ann Burrows, and Teola Lucas, his brother, Daevon Ivey, and one special cousin, LaToya Speight. A host of relatives and friends will remember T J's warm spirit and generous nature.
