Shon Marie Britton, known affectionately as Shon by those who loved her, was born April 14, 1964, in Flint, Michigan to Charles Britton and Barbara Britton Waddell. The Lord called Shon home on February 18, 2026, in Michigan City, Indiana.
Shon loved the Lord. Through her life she has been a God-fearing woman whose faith made her life bright and strong. She was not just a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and a friend but a shining light. She had a heart of gold and loved her children unconditionally, she nurtured her children instilling in them kindness and real things of life, she celebrated their joy and happiness. Shon Marie set standards for making her home where everyone felt welcome.
She had a vibrant smile, and infectious laughter would light up the room. Her wise words were full of wisdom and spoken with love
Shon was a beacon of love and joy within her family. Her early education took place in Flint Public Schools, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and a resilient spirit. Shon's work ethic was evident through her dedicated years in the Restaurant and Factory industry, where her colleagues became a second family.
Shon's life was a testament to the power of family and friendship. Though her father, Charles Britton, and stepfather, Willie Waddell, Vincent Rasco Jr., Charles "CR" Williams, grandson, Terry Rasco, aunt Ruth "Sis" Worlds, Uncle Bubba Bryson preceded her in death,
She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Barbara Waddell of Michigan City, IN. Shon's legacy continues through her beloved children, Ezra (Kizzy Harper) Rasco, Tiffany (Eugene Dawson) Rasco, Darnelius (April McCarty) Jenkins, Dennis (Elizabeth Adams) McCaw, and Javon Rasco.
The family tree Shon nurtured is rich with branches, including her devoted siblings, Tawanda Britton, Malvina (Clay) Williams, Ezra (Denarra) Britton, Terrance (Shammia) Britton, Diana Britton, Tracy Henderson, Tracy Walker, James Brian Walker.
Shon was a cherished grandmother to Charles Jr., Tatiana, Sierra, Summyia, Vincent Jr., Jacory, Colin, Deon, Amira, Ta’Khiya “Lil Moma”, Zamar, India, Devion, ArbreAuna, Tranayla, Kal’eyah, Dakota “DJ”, Jamarion, CeArra, Lil Dennis and Elijah and numerous great-grandchildren. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives will forever hold Shon in their hearts.
Shon's life was filled with laughter and love, which she shared generously with her special friends Callie Gale, Debbie Youngblood, Ms. Pat, and Marilyn Youngblood. Her sense of humor and warmth drew people to her.
An avid lover of Bingo, baseball, dancing, telling jokes and card games, Shon had a competitive spirit and a knack for bringing people together for a good time. Her evenings were often spent watching television, Shon was also a beach enthusiast, finding peace and solace in the rhythm of the waves and the warmth of the sun.
Above all, Shon was a family person, embodying the qualities of someone who put her loved ones first. Her funny, lovable nature made her the heart of every gathering, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we bid farewell to Shon M. Britton, we celebrate a life lived with gusto, love, and an unshakeable sense of humor.
