Patricia Julia Williams was born December 29, 1959 to the late Geneva and James Williams Jr. From birth, Patty made sure everyone knew she was the baby of the family and deserved all the attention. She loved annoying her siblings and was quickly labeled a "tattle tale."
Patty graduated from Bloom Trail High School and attended Prairie State College all while taking care of a young child.
She began her career journey as a school bus driver and was quickly promoted to a bus driver trainer. In 1995, she set her sights on a new chapter in Atlanta, Georgia. There, she dedicated years of service to MARTA, starting as a City Bus Driver and ultimately retiring as a Rail Operator. She was also a licensed Real Estate Agent.
However, if you knew Patty, you'd know her real job was shopping, traveling, and having a good time. She was the life of the party! Many people will remember her signature laugh. Patty never met a conversation she didn't like. Whether she was catching up with friends or gossiping with family, she never cared about calling any time day or night to get the scoop. If you were to ask Patty, her greatest legacy was her daughter and grandchildren. She always bragged to anyone who would listen and loved her family fiercely.
She departed this life on March 11, 2026. She now joins the loved ones who went before her: her parents, siblings Cheryl Hall and Gregory Williams, and former partner Leon Rogers.
She is survived by her daughter Latrina (Eric) Brown, her grandchildren Jalen Brown, Zion Williams, Danielle Rodgers, and Erica Brown. Also, her siblings, Mary Williams, Carlton Williams, Christopher Williams, and Darlene Williams.
Poem:
The Broken Chain
We little knew the day that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
