Pastor Gary Lemond Jackson, was born on November 20, 1961, in the humble town of Cotton Plant, Arkansas, he was called home by the Lord on November 21, 2023, in Michigan City, Indiana. He was a faith-filled man of gentle spirit, Pastor Gary had unconditional love for his family, and his God.
Pastor Gary was born unto the loving arms of his parents, Roy C. Jackson and Lula Mae McMillion Jackson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Jackson; nephew, Pierre Jackson; maternal uncles, Tommy McMillion, Sylvester McMillion, and maternal aunt, Bernice Warren.
He was a beloved husband to his wife of fifteen years, Shirley Gill-Jackson, whom he married on March 1, 2008, in Michigan City, Indiana. He is also survived by his brothers, Sammy and Isaac Jackson; sister, Sandra (Robert) Moore; maternal uncles, Roy (Pat) McMillion, James (Teresa) McMillion, Bobby (Johnnie) McMillion, Myles McMillion; maternal aunts, Minnie McMillion, Rosetta Hampton, Carolyn McMillion, Magdalene (Willie) Staten, Geneva (Sylvester) Pickens, Blanche Gilbert, Dorothy (Arthur) Ship; nine nieces and nephews; nineteen great-nieces and nephews that he loved and cherished as his very own, and a host of church family and relatives who loved him dearly.
Pastor Gary received his formal education in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, and went on to obtain his G.E.D. in Michigan City, Indiana. He was a man of many talents, but his culinary skills were renowned. He worked as a cook at various restaurants, including Four Winds Casino and most recently, Swingbellys Restaurant. His dishes were not just meals, but expressions of his love and care for those he served.
In addition to his culinary pursuits, Pastor Gary had a deep passion for preaching and serving his church. He was an esteemed member of the Redeemed Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor David and First Lady Jillian Ashley. His sermons were filled with the warmth of his faith, and his words could inspire a sense of hope and love in the hearts of all who listened.
One of his favorite songs, "Every Praise is to Our God," perfectly encapsulates his unshakeable faith and love for the Lord. He loved helping others, especially taking care of his beloved mother, Lula Mae Jackson, who recently passed away. His dedication to family and faith was a beacon for all who knew him.
Pastor Gary Jackson was a man who lived his faith, not just in the pulpit, but in the kitchen, in his home, and in every interaction he had. His gentle spirit, his unwavering faith, and his loving heart will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.
In the words of the southern preacher he was, let us remember Pastor Gary not with sorrow, but with joy, for he has gone home to the Lord, where every praise is indeed to our God. His life was full of faith, love, and service, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life, for he has run the race, kept the faith, and is now at rest with his Savior.
