Melanie Pogue Obituary

 Melanie Patrice Pogue a beacon of kindness and a champion of inclusion transitioned from this earthly world on September 8, 2025 at the age of 46 from a tragic accident in Lafayette, IN where she lived. 

 

She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents: Erdell Moore and William Bodley; Paternal Grandparents: Blu and Sallie Pogue; Maternal Great Grandmother Jessie Holly; Great Aunts: Mildred Moore, Gussie Lee Boyd, and Louise Harrison; Aunt Christine L. Griffin; Uncles: Napoleon Jolly, and Frank Holly; Special Cousins: Charles Griffin, Jr. and Chelse Taylor; Special Friend Patrice Newsome among many other relatives and friends.

 

Born May 29, 1979 in Montgomery, Alabama. Melanie grew up in a loving family, the cherished daughter of Joyce Pogue- (Curtis) Hall, Merrillville, IN and Walter L. (Ollie) Pogue, Ozark, Alabama. 

 

She was a beloved Sister to Joi' Anissa(Timothy) Russell and Kristopher(Alyssa)Hall and treasured friends Derria Mays and Hiawatha Davis. Melanie's life was enriched by her god-daughter Mariah Mays and god-son Patrick Newsome and spiritual parents  Patric and Georgette Stewart not to mention a host of loving relatives and friends who will deeply miss her. 

 

Melanie's quest for knowledge  and personal growth was a hallmark of her character, a proud graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School Class, 1998. 

 

Melanie was a woman of deep Christian  faith, baptized at an early age, again as she was becoming an adult at St. Jude Deliverance Center and later became a devoted member of Faith Temple Of Christ, Merrillville, IN later Living Truth Of Christ Church in Lafayette, IN.

 

Her professional path led her to McDonald's where she was known for her dedication and warm smile. 

 

However it was her passion for sports and unwavering spirit that truly defines her. Melanie's life though cut short was full of moments that exemplified her caring and kind nature. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her with the same selflessness and love that she so freely gave. 

 

As we bid farewell to Melanie Patrice Pogue we celebrate the time we were blessed to share with her and the many lives she touched with her warm heart and unwavering optimism. 

 

Her memory will forever be cherished and her spirit will continue to guide us in the pursuit of joy inclusion and unwavering kindness.
