Mary Roberts Obituary

Mary Louise Roberts was called to Glory on March 4, 2022 at Franciscan Health Center.

Funeral services will be noon, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Dwayne Hurt to give the eulogy. Viewing will be 11am at the church until the time of service.

Mary Roberts was born October 25, 1945, to Jimmie Lee and Leona Lee Daniels, Minter City, Mississippi.

In 1986, Mary moved from Chicago, Illinois to Michigan City, Indiana. Mary worked at Weil McClain for over 15 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member at Old Landmark Church under the pastorage of Robert Hurt Sr. and later under Pastor Dwayne Hurt at New Covenant Outreach Ministries. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. If you ever met Mary, you would recall that she was a sweet, pretty lady, who always dressed nice, hair was laid along with a smile that would light up a room. The sweet smell of her perfume would linger long after she was gone, reminding you she had been there, and you would smile. She was a good friend and confidante. Very outspoken but listened with her heart. If you asked for advice, she would give it to you straight. Mouthwatering, thinking about all that good southern food made from scratch as well as those cakes. She loved her children unconditionally. Stressed the importance of education and to chase their dreams. She would say “The sky’s the limit. Trust in the Lord, Believe and have faith. Give him praise and thanks”. These are just some of the things you would remember if you ever met Miss Mary. She enjoyed the following tv show’s: “The Haves and the Have Nots,” “Price is Right” and “Let’s Make a Deal.”

Mary leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Henry Lee Starks of Michigan City, IN; Willie L. (Alene) Starks of Orland Park, IL; Michael (Dorothy) Tillman of San Francisco, CA; Larry Starks of Michigan City, IN; Ronald Starks of South Bend, IN; Donald Starks of Michigan City, IN; Yolanda Starks of Indianapolis, IN; Brother, Robert Daniels, Minter City, MS; sister, Mary Knighten; her beloved niece Mary (Marvin) Austin, Brownsmill, NJ ; fourteen grandchildren; Denver, Shontay, Willie, Jr, Rickey, Deja, Rasheed, Aaron, Chi, Eric, Ronkevis, Aigner, Mary, Melissa and Marianna and a host of great grandchildren; special friends, Jenny Thompson, Katherine Dockery, Debra Gardner, Dorothy Macon, Mary Lee Butler, Carol Williams and Frances Coleman; along with many other family members and friends.
