Kay’La Nicole Orr abruptly left this earthly realm to join Christ on the 13th day of August, in the year of our Lord 2023. Kay’La will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Kay’La was born on June 28th, 1996, to parents Dennis and Tina (Tillman) Orr. Kay’La, a resident of Michigan City, Indiana was a beloved sister to Xavier Orr and her twin brother, Alex Orr. She was also a cherished aunt to her niece, Braylynn, and nephews, Giovanni, and Kai Orr; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and associates, whose lives were enriched by her gentle spirit and infectious laughter.
Kay’La graduated from Michigan City High in 2014 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Ball State University in 2021. She proudly began to put her education to use by attaining an ABA and working with children with autism. Most recently she was beginning to spread her wings and started a career with the DCFS.
Kayla’s fascination with butterflies was well known, their delicate beauty and transformative nature mirroring her own gentle spirit and capacity for growth. She was always striving to be as independent as possible and a fierce defender of how she viewed the world. Her life was a beautiful dream, and although she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her, may her soul find peace in the arms of eternity. Fly butterfly fly!
Kay’La was preceded in death by, grandparents Wilton and Cora Tillman, Willie Orr and Donna Weathers, aunt, Penny Alilovich, as well as cousins, Gary Lee, Maurice McKenzie, Theresa Davis and bonus cousin, Justin Garner.
