Joseph Lee Headspeth Sr., known affectionately as Joe, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Michigan City, IN. Born on April 10, 1988, in Indianapolis, IN, to Roderick White and the late Doris Headspeth. Joe's journey through life was one marked by love, laughter, and the joy of family.
Joe was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Doris Headspeth, who left this world unexpectedly, yet her love and influence remained a guiding force in his life. His maternal grandmother, Zenovia J. Pettigrew; maternal grandfather, Lenard Headspeth; paternal grandmother, Eddie White; brothers Tyrone D. Young and Edrick Headspeth; aunts, Dorothy Hardy, Glenda Pettigrew, Brenda Pettigrew, Suzette White, Tracey Beasley and Evelyn M. Williams and uncles, Arthur Pettigrew Sr., Calvin Pettigrew and Kenny Pettigrew also preceded him in death.
On August 31, 2012, Joe's life was forever changed with the birth of his son, Joseph Lee Headspeth Jr., affectionately known as "baby Joe." Sharing his passion for cars with his son, they spent countless hours together talking, listening to music, and enjoying each other's company. Baby Joe was a true daddy's boy, always eager to be by his father's side. The arrival of his princess, Kalaiah Lynette, brought a new dimension of joy to Joe's life. He embraced every aspect of fatherhood, from coloring to playing with barbies, always ensuring that his children felt loved and cherished.
Joe is survived by his devoted father, Roderick (Francine) White, who provided a loving and supportive home. Joe's life was enriched by the presence of his son, Joseph Jr.; daughters, Kalaiah and Kamaurie, who were the light of his life. His love for them knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment spent playing and learning together. Joe's siblings, Christina (Kevin) Taylor, Somer Pennington, Stephanie Hoskin, Quinton Steen, and Ulysses Randall, will remember him as a caring brother. His aunts, Jackie (Andy) White and Kimberly Headspeth-Iman; uncles, David Headspeth, John Pettigrew, Conrad (Davita) White and Steven White; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends will also hold dear memories they shared with Joe.
Joe was surrounded by many exceptional women, from aunts to cousin. Joe’s girl cousins were like sisters to him, one in particularly his favorite, Teera (TeAira Lynette). Their bond was a testament to the strong family ties that Joe valued deeply.
Joe's educational journey began in the Indianapolis Wayne Township Schools and continued at Indianapolis Public #42. He later attended North-West High School and graduated from Cornerstone Christian Correspondence School.
Joe's legacy is one of love, and the enduring bonds of family. His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be treasured forever in our hearts. Joe was loved by everyone.
