Jesse was a proud graduate of the Issac Elston School, where he was known for his athletic prowess, playing both basketball and football for the Elston Red Devils. His competitive spirit and teamwork on the field were only matched by his kindness and loyalty off the field. Upon completing his education with the class of 1980, he took his drive and discipline to the United States Army, where he served with honor and distinction.
Following his military service, Jesse embarked on a career as a truck driver for Swift, a role that suited his love for the open road and the sense of freedom it offered. Jesse's passion for driving was not just professional; he took great pleasure in working on his personal truck, ensuring it was always in top condition.
An avid fisherman, Jesse found solace and joy in the quiet moments by the water, casting his line and waiting for the next big catch. His love for the sport was a reflection of his patience and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Jesse James Cash; stepfather Zeb Catchings; son Kwian Fowler; sister Leslie Cash; maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jesse leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. He is survived by his devoted mother, Janet Catchings of Michigan City; his special nephew, Briene Henderson of LaPorte; his goddaughter, Sierra Smith of Michigan City; and his stepsister, Trudy (Michael Fussell) Catchings of Michigan City. His aunts, Patricia Shark of LaPorte, Karen (Wayne) Howell of Dublin, GA, Doris Payne, and Iris Metcalf, both of Tampa, FL, will remember his gentle spirit and heartfelt laughter. His cousins, Hazel McNeal, Ben Washington, Rodney Washington, Fred Washington, all of Michigan City, and Craig (Crystal) Perry of Hampton, GA, will cherish the memories of their times together.
