Eddie Lee Wilson Jr.

Mr. Eddie Lee Wilson Jr., affectionately known as Duke, passed away on June 19, 2026, at Southlake Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and faith.

Eddie was born to Eddie Wilson Sr. and Maggie Richmond on a cold winter day, December 18, 1949, in Hernando, Mississippi. At the age of 6, Duke came to Michigan City, Indiana, where he would spend the rest of his life building meaningful relationships. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Wilson Sr. and Maggie Richmond, as well as his brothers, Victor and Kenny Richmond, his beloved son, Courtney Wilson and Stepson Evander Stallng.

Duke accepted the responsibilities of life with quiet determination and a steadfast spirit. He graduated from high school and later answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1976. His commitment and discipline were evident throughout his military career, and he immediately reenlisted, eventually rising to the rank of SFC. After 18.5 years of honorable service, he retired from the military with the respect and gratitude of those who served alongside him. He later attended college, continuing to value education and personal growth throughout his life.

Following his military career, Duke remained active in the community and continued to serve others in meaningful ways. He was a past member of Living Way Church, where his Christian faith was an important part of his life. He also served on the Michigan City Housing Authority Board and the Michigan City Housing Development Board, demonstrating his dedication to improving the lives of others and contributing to the betterment of the place he called home.

Duke is survived by his wife, Sherry Wilson; his children, Benjamin Washington, Michigan City, IN, Reggie Redfield, Anderson IN, Brittany Posey, Sherman TX, Brandy Wilson, Olathe KS. Stepchildren Tatiyana and Tamaria Neal, DeWade Stallings all of Michigan CIty IN; his sister, Melinda Hampton, Atlanta, GA his brother, Steven Richmond Michigan City, IN, his close friend and former Pastor in which he served as his armor bearer, Pastor Dion Campbell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. His presence brought comfort, guidance, and encouragement to many, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew  hiim.

He enjoyed fishing, basketball, and reading, pastimes that reflected both his love for quiet reflection and his appreciation for life’s simple joys. Those who knew Duke will remember his warm spirit, his strong work ethic. His life was marked by perseverance, humility, and service, and he leaves behind a lasting example of what it means to live with purpose and integrity.

Though he has completed his earthly journey, the impact of Mr. Eddie Lee Wilson Jr. will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
