Dwight L. Williams of Michigan City, IN, known as “D-Spade” to friends. Born January 31, 1973, in Alton, IL to Carmen Kates and Gary Williams. He was Nancy (Mama’s) first grandson and brought special joy into our family. 

He grew up in Alton and graduated from Alton High School in June 1991. He then attended one year ofAuto Mechanics Training at J.B. Johnson Vocational School in Alton before moving to Michigan City, IN. He worked in various manufacturing plants in Michigan City. His last employment was at Sullivan Palatek building air compressors. 

He was a talented man excelling in carpentry and vehicle repairs. He had a can-do attitude with learning and worked well with his hands. 

He most enjoyed spending time with his children daily,giving his time, energy, and love to them. Watching basketball, doing music production in his home studio occasionally, morning gym, and formally bowling were his hobbies. His humor, his willingness to answer when called for help, and strong sense of family and desire to celebrate them was a blessing. 

He attended Full Gospel Church under leadership of Pastor Pickens. 

He passed away on March 31, 2023, at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Kates and his uncle, Myron Edwards. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Johnson; father Gary Williams; his children, Isaiah Williams and Iyana Williams; his brothers, Darryl Bea, Gary and Cory Williams; uncles, Carl Kates, Bryan (Donna) Kates, and Garland Johnson; aunts, Carla Whitfield, Nancy (Ginyard Vails) Banks, and Michelle Johnson; special cousins, Ebony Kates, Monique Anozie, and Nikia (David) Austin, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children Sarah Troxell. 

His family considered it a privilege to know him and to be part of his life. He will truly be missed.

Viewing will be 1:00pm to 3:00pm Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Emmanuel Funeral Home 3025 East Michigan Blvd, Trail Creek, Indiana 46360. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 21, 2023 at Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home LLC, 1695 Oakwood Avenue, Alton, Illinois 62002 and burial will follow in Upper Alton Cemetery, Alton, Illinois.
