Darrell Wayne Davis, Sr

DARRELL WAYNE DAVIS Sr., the son of Cornelius A. Davis, Sr., and Esther L. Davis, was born on December 14, 1959, in Michigan City, Indiana. 

He received his education from the Michigan City Public Schools, receiving his general education diploma from Rogers Senior High School in 1978.

WAYNE accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and attended Life and The Word Church under Pastor Curtis Deal.

WAYNE worked for ITW Red Head Phillips Drill and Genco as a forklift operator and light laborer for many years. Later in life he worked at Dunescape Beach Club in maintenance and security.

WAYNE loved watching sports especially basketball. His favorite pastime was attending his grandkids sporting events and he would make sure to be there to support and cheer them on. He also loved playing board games with his grandchildren. He had a quiet disposition and carried himself with dignity, yet he did not allow his quietness to stop him from sharing his love for his family, friends, and co-workers.  WAYNE encouraged many, leaving no one without his special touch and care.  His smile and dry humor lit up a room, and his overall demeanor was infectious.  We will miss him and pray that our memories of him will fill our hearts and minds forever.

DARRELL WAYNE DAVIS, Sr., departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the age of sixty-two years old. Proceeded in death by brother, Cornelius A. Davis, Jr.; nephew, Brandon B. Davis; great niece, Pryncess Khalilah Gross, maternal grandparents, Oscar Wadford and Neil and Arthur Coleman; paternal grandparents, Willie and Bernice Davis.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his parents, Cornelius A. Davis, Sr. and Esther Davis; sons, Darrell Wayne Davis, Jr., North Carolina, Leo Lewis, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jermaine Anderson, of Michigan City, Indiana and; daughters, Jacqueline Davis (Ashley) Indianapolis, Indiana, Shavone Anderson, and Dominique Anderson both of Michigan City, Indiana and; brothers, Tony Davis (Stephanie), La Vergne, Tennessee, Cornell Davis, Derrick Wesley (Rosalyn), and Michael Davis, of Michigan City, Indiana; sisters, Felice Simmons, Fort Worth, Texas, Terri Washington (Ray), Michigan City, Indiana and Tina Rice (Mark), Indianapolis, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, Darrell Wayne Davis III (D3), Allen (Main Man), Amirah (My Girl), Khalilah, Justice, Daviana, Davion, Jordan, King, Angeline, Adiel, Paris, Delilah, Tiahna, and; aunts, Dorothy Stone and Jeannie Macon, Portland, Oregon and; special nieces Karemia Blakely, Brownsburg, Indiana and Khalilah Davis, Indianapolis, Indiana; special sister, Carlen Pernell Ashley, Portland, Oregon; special friends, Dr. Raj and Gail Lal, Oak Brook, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be noon, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Lane to give the eulogy. Viewing will be 11am until the time of service at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
