Cornell DeShaun Davis, affectionately known as “Mann” and recognized by many as “Playbwoi Tha Great,” was born on May 17, 1988, in Michigan City, Indiana, and passed away on May 5, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, after a senseless and tragic homicide took him from this earthly stage. He was a son, a father, a brother, a friend, and a bright spirit whose presence left a lasting echo in every room he entered. Cornell lived a life marked by creativity, love for family, and a deep connection to music. He lived with heart, with rhythm, and with a voice that carried both strength and soul.
Music was the very pulse of his being, the beat within his heart, the joy that gave color to his days and fire to his spirit. He was a hip hop artist, songwriter and producer. His gift was not merely in sound, but in the passion and truth with which he delivered it. He had the privilege of working with several artists, among them Boosie, NBA Youngboy, Usher, Kevin Gates and more and in such company his talent found fellowship and expression. To those who knew him through his art, he was more than a performer, for he was a vessel of energy, style, and creative flame.
Cornell is survived by his loving parents, Cornell Davis and Jeanetta (Edwin) Leshore. He leaves behind two sons, Camorion Deshaun Davis and Damaris Juanta Davis, who were among the most important parts of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Iesha Davis, Antoine Woodard, Shalamariea (Kai) Silva, Kierra (Anthony) Turientine, William Greer and Brelon Davis. His family circle also includes his paternal grandmother, Esther Lee Davis; his godmother, Sharen (Phillip) Berry Jr; his special siblings, Brandi Richard, Demetruis Hales and April Hales; his special cousins, Khalilah Odom, LaTrenia Anderson, Danielle Jarrett, and Darrell Davis, Jr.; and two close friends, Tabrece Craft and Timothy McAfee. He is also survived by a host of relatives who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Brandon Davis; his maternal grandparents, Willie Mae Walker, Horace Taylor, and David Greer; his paternal grandfather, Cornelius Davis; and his godbrother, Prince “Nuk” Bibbs. These loved ones, now gone before him, are part of the family legacy that shaped the man he became.
Cornell DeShaun Davis was a man whose life was far too short, yet whose impact was wide and deep. He lived in a way that made people remember him long after the moment passed, leaving an imprint through his spirit, his voice, and the love he gave to others. Though his journey ended in sorrow, his memory lives on in every heartbeat of those who loved him. May he rest in peace and may the song of his life continue to echo with love, honor, and light.
