Charlie was born August 13, 1933, the son of the late John and Minnie Seay. Charlie was the last of his siblings, he was also preceded in death by one grandson.
On May 12, 1961, in Iuka, Mississippi, Charlie married his sweetheart, Virginia Mitchell.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished by his family. His beloved wife, Virginia Seay, was the cornerstone of his heart, and together they built a life filled with joy and laughter. He will be profoundly missed by his five children, who remember him as a guiding force in their lives. Charlie's spirit will continue to live on through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives who felt his love and guidance.
The roots of Charlie's education were planted in the Iuka Public School system, where he received his formal education. His commitment to excellence and hard work was evident in his long and fruitful career. Charlie spent many years at Josam Co, where his diligence and strong work ethic were well-known, leading him to his retirement in 1994. Yet, retirement could not contain his zest for life and dedication to serving others. He continued to work at Gateway until the company's closure. Charlie's passion for community engagement did not wane; he could not bear the thought of staying idle at home. With a heart full of service, he joined the team at City Hall, where he worked from 1994 until 2020. When the Covid-19 pandemic emerged, Charlie stepped away from his public duties, having left an indelible mark on all those he worked with throughout the years.
His commitment to his faith was as steadfast as his commitment to his community. Charlie was a devoted member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. The church was not just a place of worship for Charlie; it was a second home where he could live his faith through service.
Beyond his work and church life, Charlie found peace and joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, reveling in the beauty of nature and the quietude it provided. Yet, his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family, where he was not just a patriarch but a source of endless love and wisdom.
Charlie Seay kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for others defined his character. Those who had the privilege of knowing Charlie experienced a man who was not only devoted to his family but also to every life he touched.
His was a life well-lived, full of purpose, and brimming with love. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire for generations to come. Charlie's life is a testament to the impact one person can have on the world, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of crossing paths with him.
