Charles James Sutton, “Charlie” "Bofox" James fell asleep in death July 12, 2024, at his home. He expressed a love for God and his son Jesus Christ by the way he treated others.
He was born on December 25, 1953, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Charlie was a man known for his radiant spirit and contagious laughter. He was the beloved son of the late Johnnie Mae Simmons and Charlie Bennett, and was lovingly adopted by Mr. Charlie and Rosie Sutton, who also preceded him in death.
Charlie grew up in Clarksdale, where he attended local schools and graduated from Coahoma County AHS High School in 1975. After completing his education, Charlie embarked on a successful career with Mercury Metal in 1978. He quickly became an invaluable member of the team, earning numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication and hard work before his well-deserved retirement.
Known for his love of sports, music, movies, and cartoons, Charlie's zest for life was infectious. He could often be found surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughs and jokes, and living by his favorite saying, "Right on Time." His presence brought joy and lightness to every gathering, making every moment memorable.
Charlie's legacy lives on through his cherished family. He leaves behind his loving sisters, Gwendolyn Bennett and Linda Davis; his brothers, Charles (Patti) Bennett, Malcolm (Christine) Bennett, and Tony (Melissa) Bennett; and his aunts, Phyllis Simmons, Freddie Mae Lee, and Ruby Cowser. His uncles, Bobbie Stokes, Homer Bailey, and CB Bradley, who gave him his first job, will also hold his memory dear. Charlie was a beloved figure in his community, and his absence will be felt by the many friends, neighbors, and the host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored him.
Charlie's life was marked by his ability to bring people together, to find humor in the everyday, and to face each day with optimism and grace. His impact on those around him was profound and will not be forgotten. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will be a beacon of joy and love in the hearts of those he touched. Charlie James Sutton will be deeply missed, but his legacy of laughter, love, and "Right on Time" will live on forever.
