Charlene Hawkins

Charlene Hawkins was born September 10, 1979 to the loving parents, Clinton Anderson and Flora Hawkins in Chicago IL. Charlene was raised by her Grandparents, James and Minnie Anderson (Her grandmother preceded her in death.) 

Charlene affectionately known as Mocha and Chocolate by her friends and family because of her melanin skin tone. She was a member of the cougars cheerleading team and attended elementary and high school in Glenwood, IL. Charlene was baptized at an early at age at True Vine Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir with her cousins.

Charlene grew up on 61st and Normal helping at her granddads store and restaurant after school.  She also developed a talent for braiding hair and would lay some French braids. As an adult Charlene enjoyed being with her immediate family, cracking jokes and making memories. She could dance and was never afraid to turn up at a party.

Charlene leaves to cherish her memories to her Parents Clinton and Flora; Grandfather, James Anderson and Grandmother, Netti Sims; her one and only daughter, who she adored, Monishae Myles her “Nook” aka Shay Shay; one grandson, Jahlil; four sisters, Monique, Amy, Alicia, and Gabrielle and two brothers, Clinton and Quinton; twelve aunts, Jessie, Vera, Dorthy, Linda, Rosemary, Susie, Idella, Ann, Earline, Josie, Lisa, and Stella, and eight uncles, James, KC, Frank, Roy, William, Mack Sylvester and James who both preceded her in death. She also leaves one Great Aunt, Lula Fredrick.

Charlene has several nieces and nephews and was very close to all of her siblings.

She developed a very strong bond with her Nephew Tyjuan who was like another son and the twins the youngest of the bunch Keoni and Nyesha; a host of cousins.

Charlene was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
