Angela Adams Obituary

Life’s Reflection
Mother Angela LaVonne Underwood-Adams was born April 17, 1952, to the late Roberta Underwood-Russell and Thomas Brown, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was the eldest of five children.

Mother Adams was united in holy matrimony to Bruce G. Adams I; and to their union, three children were born.

She graduated from high school in 1982. She later furthered her education at Lake Michigan College. Mother Adams retired from Tyler Refrigeration Corporation.

In 2003, Mother Adams moved from Niles, Michigan, where she lived for over 20 years, to Benton Harbor, Michigan, to be close to her daughter, Angela.

On December 31, 2017, she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior, at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, under the pastorate of Administrative Asst. Rudolph Thomas. She enjoyed watching biblical movies, Esther and Ruth and “One Night with the King”. She loved to sing, until her health began to fail her. One of her favorite gospel songs was “Deliver Me”, by Le’Andria Johnson; which she played daily.

Mother Adams loved lavender flowers, butterflies, listening to music, reading, dancing, cooking, making blankets for her children and grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was an excellent skater and swimmer. She said that red was her favorite color, but she was most often seen wearing neon green and bright orange. She was known for her strong cup of coffee, pumpkin pie, famous fried chicken and mac and cheese. She was an avid online shopper.

Mother Adams was a wonderful and faithful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known as Mother by her children and the community; “Moowa” by her grandchildren (her first grandchild gave her that name) and “Gi-Gi” by her great grandchildren. She had a great personality, which allowed her to adopt you with her unconditional love. She had a special bond with her grandsons, whom she called every day. Her great grandson, Kayden visited frequently and he lived with her, and she helped raise him. He was known as her “Snuggle Buddy”.

She was able to achieve one of her greatest goals on her bucket list: She went on a cruise with her two beautiful daughters.

Mother Angela LaVonne (Underwood) Adams, age, 69, answered God’s call on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roberta (George) Russell and Thomas Brown; one brother, Stephen Underwood.

Mother Adams was the beloved mother of Ulonda D. Adams of South Bend, Indiana, Angela (Steve) Humphries of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Bruce G. (Joelle) Adams II, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three siblings, Michael Underwood, Linda Underwood and Rodney (Vivian) Russell; six grandchildren, Christopher L. (Perla) Larry, Ronald A. Jones III, Christopher A. (Anisha) Thompson-Humphries, Eric S.(Iesha) Humphries, Alyssa L. Adams and Ashton G. Adams; twelve great grandchildren and a host of relatives and her Holy Temple Church of God in Christ church family.
