Anetta Martin Obituary

Anetta Lynn Bell Martin the only child of Robert and Betty Bell, was born on June 8, 1964. Lynn as she was affectionately called was an outgoing, fun-loving person who always had a smile on her face. She took a lot of pride in taking care of her business and family which was always her first priority.

Lynn attended Rogers High School from 1978 to 1982, where she spent her high school years as a Raiderette (pom pom girl). Thereafter, she attended Indiana State University graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications in 1987. A lifelong learner, she went on to receive her Master of Management Emphasis on Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness from Indiana Wesleyan, and she was pursuing her Doctorate in Philosophy at University of Phoenix.

Lynn moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1990 and worked at Allstate Insurance for over 30 years. There she was on the Claims Management leadership team prior to her retirement. She was currently on the Life Insurance Claims leadership team at OneAmerica. She was also a Sustainability Coach Talent Share helping automotive leaders with continuous improvement tools.

Lynn was very passionate about her community. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for nearly 10 years.

She accepted Christ at an early age becoming a member of New Hope Baptist Church led by Reverend R. T. Shipp, and after moving to Indianapolis she became a longtime member of Eastern Star Church.

Lynn united in Holy Matrimony to Damon Martin on December 31, 1994. They were the parents of her “ladybugs” McKenzie Nichole and Sydney Marie, who they continued to co-parent.

Lynn was also affectionately known as “YaYa” to her only grandchild, Kayden Jeremiah, also known as “K.J.”

Lynn was a huge lover of life and enjoyed music, skating, shopping and just having a good time. Lynn was also an avid reader who indulged herself into fictional and non-fictional literature. But her most favorite pastime was spending time with her girls and grandson, who she considered to be her greatest joy and biggest accomplishment.

Lynn received her wings and transitioned to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Bell; sister, Cynthia Berry; nephew, Juan Brooks; cousin, Willie “Brent” Hammonds; her favorite aunt and uncle, Bertha and Willie Hammonds, and aunt, Diane Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, McKenzie and Sydney Martin; grandson, Kayden (K.J.) Brown; father, Robert (Ardrema) Bell; siblings, Gail, Robert, Jr. (Robbie), Charles (Carlos), and Velveeta; favorite cousins, Angela and Sharron Hammonds; aunts, Barbara Wright, Harriett and Margaret Martin; uncles, Samuel and Carlon Martin; nephew, Marcus Berry (Tia); nieces, Monica Berry and Dawn Williams (Erick); five bonus sisters and brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
